CHARLOTTE, NC — An early morning fire Sunday at a northeast Charlotte apartment complex caused more than $75,000 in damages and was intentionally set, according to officials. It’s the second case of arson at the complex within the past month.

An investigation is underway into the blaze that was reported around 4:30 a.m. at the Hunter’s Pointe apartment complex in the 2100 block of Prospect Drive, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames through the roof of an apartment building, CMPD said.

A similar fire at the complex, which fire officials say was also a case of arson, occurred March 7 around the same time of morning. That fire left numerous families displaced and caused $200,000 in damages.
