Mother Shot In Home Invasion, Infant Left Unharmed: CMPD

A man forced his way into a Charlotte mother's home and shot her. Her 6-month-old baby was left unharmed.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A woman was shot and left with life threatening injuries Monday after a man forced his way into her home in an armed home invasion Monday morning, according to Charlotte police. Her 6-month-old infant was found in the home unharmed.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Wexford Meadows Lane in north Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Feb. 5. CMPD officers responding to a 911 call found the mother inside her apartment with gunshot wounds.

The woman was shot more than once in her upper body by a suspect she told police she did not know, according to a WSOC report.

She was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries, CMPD said.

“At this time, detectives believe that the male suspect forced his way into the apartment and was looking for a subject who was not present in the apartment when the shooting occurred,” CMPD’s report said.
