Police Searching For Car Theft Suspect Who Cut Off Monitor
Lashawn Wilds cut off his electronic monitoring device he was to wear while awaiting trial for stealing a car, police said Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A suspect wanted for stealing a car is on the run in Charlotte after he cut off his electronic monitoring device Wednesday morning, according to police.
Lashawn Wilds, 19, was court ordered to wear the device as a condition of pretrial release on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit felony larceny. He now also faces charges for interfering with an electronic monitoring device and damage to property.
Wilds was last known to be in the area of 2429 Jefferson Davis Street in Charlotte, north of Uptown, police said.

He is described as 5-foot, 8-inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.
Charlotte police said anyone with information about his whereabouts should immediately contact the Electronic Monitoring Unit at 704-432-8888, option #3 or call 911.
