Police Searching For Man Wanted For Assault, Possession Of Gun

Clevis Maurice Morrison is wanted for assaulting a woman and possessing a gun. He cut off his electronic monitor Sunday, police said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are asking for the community's help locating a 35-year-old man who they say is wanted for a list of charges, including assault and possession of a firearm after he cut off his court-ordered electronic monitor Sunday.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, Clevis Maurice Morrison, 35, cut off the monitor that he was ordered by the courts to wear as a condition of pretrial release for charges that include assaulting a female, communicating threats, possession of a firearm by a felon and removing a gun’s serial number. He is now also wanted for damage to property and interfering with an electronic monitoring device.

He was last known to be in the area of 5100 block of Equipment Drive in Charlotte on Jan. 20, CMPD said. He is described as 5-foot, 9-inches tall and weighing 190 pounds.

CMPD asks that anyone with information about Jones' whereabouts contact the Electronic Monitoring Unit at 704-432-8888, option #3 or call 911.
