Woman Killed In Late Night Shooting Along Central Avenue
A woman was fatally shot Wednesday night on Central Avenue and now police are searching for her killer.
CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman is dead and a police investigation underway after a late night shooting near Plaza Midwood, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Thursday morning.
CMPD received a call for service around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday evening, and officers responding to the crime scene in the 3100 block of Central Avenue found the female victim, identified as 29-year-old Jessica Dawn Smith, with a gunshot wound. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report.
Homicide detectives have canvassed the area and are searching for witnesses. CMPD asks that anyone with information about this incident call 704-432-TIPS and speak to a homicide detective, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
