Lockdown At Carrboro School After Report Of Active Shooter

Carrboro Elementary and Carrboro United Methodist Child Care went into lockdown Tuesday morning due to a potential active shooter.

CARRBORO, NC — Reports of a possible active gunman sent an elementary school and day care center into lockdown Tuesday morning in Carrboro, according to reports.

“Carrboro Elementary [and] Carrboro United Methodist Child Care are on lockdown for a potential active shooter situation,” the Town of Carrboro said shortly after 11 a.m. By 12:15 p.m., however, the reports of the shooter were found to be unsubstantiated, according to a town alderman.

“Things are calm at Carrboro Elementary, except for the press helicopters,” Carrboro Alderman Bethany Chaney said on social media. “Lots of protocol related to these situations, so parents are understandably frustrated. But looks like no one has been hurt, no active shooter.”
