NC State Will Not Play Football Game Saturday Due To Florence

With Hurricane Florence setting its sights squarely on North Carolina, the school announced it will not play West Virginia as scheduled.

RALEIGH, NC — North Carolina State University will not play its scheduled game Saturday against No. 14 ranked West Virginia University with the area anticipating "severe and unsafe" weather conditions from Hurricane Florence. The school announced Tuesday that the game will not be played at all this weekend and said the game may not be played at all.

"Should this game be rescheduled or a replacement home game be scheduled, tickets for the West Virginia game will be valid," the university said in a statement on its website. "If this game or a replacement home game is not viable, a refund will be offered to season ticket holders. Details will be communicated at a later date."

NC State worked with WVU, the Atlantic Coast Conference and emergency management workers to arrive at the decision. Emergency management resources are expected to be fully utilized and needed throughout the region, the university said. The cancelation will help give people enough time to deploy those resources statewide.
