North Carolinians Think Their Grass is Greener
North Carolina was ranked 2nd for lawn confidence in the U.S. in a recent survey
North Carolina natives have been known to brag about their state—And it’s really no wonder. The Raleigh-Durham area made the US News 25 Fastest-Growing Places in the U.S. list last year.

Apparently, more than most states in the country. According to a new survey of over 2,700 Americans by garden company, Michigan Bulb, North Carolina ranked 2nd for the most lawn confident state in the country.
Wondering what that means? Over 43% of North Carolinians think their lawns are better than their neighbors. From lawn care, to flowers and trees, a good chunk of the state is pretty confident that they have the best lawn on the block.

Rhode Island was the only state more confident, and topped the list with almost 46% of respondents saying their lawn is better than their neighbors.
To put it in perspective, residents in Maine were ranked the least yard confident state in the country, and only .5% of people thought their lawns were the best. Following Maine were Arizona, Wisconsin, and Louisiana.
Perhaps the pandemic was good for lawn confidence as more people began manicuring their lawn while they were out of work, and while most things were closed last year. According to Garden Center Magazine, plant sales have soared nationwide in 2020. Between spring 2019 and spring 2020, garden sales revenue increased by 8.9% nationally.
This increase in gardening activity may be exactly why North Carolina residents feel so confident about their own properties. But no matter what the explanation is, we’d rather be lawn confident than lawn envious.
