- North Carolina has drawn the winners for the Your Shot at a Million and Cash 4 College programs. A teacher from Winston-Salem won the first $1 million prize, and a 14-year-old high school freshman from Wilmington won the $125,000 scholarship towards college education. (Governor.NC.gov)
- Southeast Raleigh residents experienced a power outage from 8:45 pm-2:00 am yesterday. The outage was caused by a vehicle that crashed into power lines at the intersection of Creech Road and Rock Quarry Road. The driver of the vehicle that crashed was rescued from the vehicles by firefighters and is doing O.K. (WRAL)
- RDU airport has received another large federal grant to make up for COVID-19 losses. The airport will receive almost $50.7 million from the American Rescue Plan Act that congress approved in March. The money will be used to cover salaries, operating costs, and existing debts. (Aviation Pros)
- The unfortunate ending to NC State's College World Series run serves as a cautionary tale to other sports teams about the consequences of having unvaccinated players on the roster. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the circumstances, but it's clear that it massively impacted the Wolfpack's potential to go much further. (Hastings Tribune)
- Attorney General Josh Stein announced Monday that Juul will be required to pay $40 million and change the way it operates in North Carolina. Many states are attempting to hold the e-cigarette maker accountable for its role in teen use and dependence on e-cigarettes. This settlement makes North Carolina the first state to successfully hold them accountable. (abc11)
