Raleigh Teens Can Now Ride Buses For Free: Here's How

Transit agencies are joining forces to allow everyone 18 and under to ride buses free. The pass works with GoTriangle, GoRaleigh and GoCary.

RALEIGH, NC — Several local transit agencies are making it easier for Raleigh teens to get around. Beginning Monday, teens ages 13 to 18 can get a Youth GoPass and ride GoTriangle, GoRaleigh, GoCary or GoDurham buses at no charge. Children 12 and younger could already ride for free, so this means any child or 18-year-old can now do so.

Interested? Click here to print out the application. Fill it out and take it — along with proof of age, such as a copy of your birth certificate, a valid school ID, license or any other government-issued ID — to an approved location. Once it's approved, your new Youth GoPass will work immediately. You just need to swipe your pass through the scanner on the fare box.

If you lose the pass — we were all kids, once — you can replace it by visiting your local transit agency. They'll charge you $3 for replacement cards.
