Here are the top 5 stories in Raleigh today
- Raleigh resident Stirling Danskin, 93, has been missing since Thursday afternoon. On Saturday there was an unfortunate end to the search when he was found dead along the shoreline of Jordan Lake. Danskin is the second death at the lake in 2021. (abc11)
- Chief Justice Paul Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court highlights the right to petition the government in a unanimous ruling. Newby expressed that "The right to petition protects petitioning activity 'regardless of intent or purpose." The original dispute happened in 2013. (Chatham Journal)
- North Carolina has been eyeing a door-to-door approach to vaccinations. For the past several weeks NC has been around the 50% vaccination mark. In order to get to Gov. Roy Cooper's goal of 2/3 of the population getting vaccinated, there is a push to bring the vaccinations to low income residents. (abc11)
- Raleigh residents were excited to celebrate the grand reopening of John Chavis Memorial Park. This remodel was the first step in the bright future for the park as they plan for more renovations, including an aquatics facility. (WRAL, CBS17)
- Marbles Kids Museum will be hosting sensory friendly playtimes this summer. The programs are designed for kids with disabilities and their families to experience the museum in a calmer, quieter environment. (WRAL)
