- State troopers will be amping up their presence on Interstate 95 this summer as part of a safe driving initiative. Safe DRIVE (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement) will be targeting drivers who are driving aggressively, speeding, tailgating, distracted, under the influence, or without seatbelts. - Raleigh police have been able to get surveillance images of the people they believe to be responsible for shooting an EMS worker on Saturday. They are asking for assistance in helping identify the multiple suspects caught on nearby cameras. (WNCT, abc11)
- National Poor People's and Low-Wage Workers Assembly, has adopted a local cause as a point to rally behind. The concerns of Garner Road Apartment residents in Raleigh have become a part of the larger fight for economic justice. After the Monday night rally, tenants were able to sit down and talk with city leaders, nonprofits, and realtors to discuss housing solutions. (abc11)
- UNC Rex Hospital is receiving thousands of books donated by a grieving father. Dan Courtine bonded with his son, Jameson, over a book called "Daddy Hug." After losing Jameson to an undiagnosed birth defect, Courtine is donating thousands of copies to fathers of children in critical care. ( WNCT9)
- Raleigh police have apprehended the suspect believed to be responsible for the June 14 shooting near downtown. Andrew Delshon Perkins was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a felon, and damage to property. (CBS17)
