Wake County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Wake County is August 28. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Wake County Public School System has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/17 - 8/25: Teacher Workdays
• 8/28: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/21: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)
• 9/29: Early Release Day

October

• 10/20: Early Release Day
• 10/30: End of 9 Weeks
• 10/31: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)

November

• 11/3: Report Cards
• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/21: Early Release Day
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21: Early Release Day
• 12/22 - 1/1: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (New Year's Day)
• 1/15: No School (MLK Day)
• 1/19: End of 9 Weeks
• 1/22: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)

February

• 2/2: Report Cards
• 2/9: Early Release Day
• 2/19: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)

March

• 3/2: Early Release
