3 Ohio Companies Announce Layoffs, Facility Closures
Three major Ohio companies have announced mass layoffs since the holidays.
REYNOLDSBURG, OH — Three companies announced layoffs in Ohio between the end of December and mid-January.
The companies are closing facilities or shutting down lines in all of their respective towns. Alliance Data said customers decisions to pay bills online has led to high overhead costs with declining work volume. The decision to shift work away from Reynoldsburg will result in 110 layoffs starting in July and ending in October.
GE Lighting said it intends to cease production on its LED A-19 Line, which could result in the layoffs of 81 employees. Depending on negotiations, the layoffs could begin in early March.

Finally, on Dec. 23, 2020, the Fiesta Tableware Company announced it would close its East Liverpool facility, leading to layoffs for 80 employees. Twenty-one of the 80 employees were already on temporary layoffs, but will not be recalled. Active employees will see layoffs beginning in mid-February and layoffs will continue in waves, the company said.
