While jobless claims are down in Ohio, many industries are still reeling from the economic impacts caused by COVID-19. Gov. Mike DeWine has said the state's ability to control the spread of the virus will have a direct impact on Ohio's economic recovery.
Maritz Holdings in Twinsburg, whose business relies on travel, said the unforeseen consequences of the economic shutdown and various social distancing orders has pinched the company's bottom line. They announced 21 employees would be furloughed, but warned the furloughs could become permanent if the COVID-19 crisis stretches into the distant future.
