'A Blessing': WWII Vet Celebrates 75th Wedding Anniversary

Ezra and Cleo Teeters got married three months after World War II ended and are still together today.

PIKE COUNTY, OH — An Ohio couple that has been married for nearly the entire post post-World War II era in America hopes to have at least one more anniversary celebration after celebrating their 75th this month.

Ezra Teeters was a POW during the war, and back home when he married his sweetheart, Cleo, on Christmas Eve in 1945. He told FOX 28 Columbus he was on furlough from the Army at the time.

“We didn’t have much time to spare, so we hurried up and got it done,” he told the television station as they celebrated the couple's milestone, 75th anniversary.

"God has been very good to us. And I feel that he has blessed us beyond measure,” Cleo Teeters said in the FOX 28 report, offering some advice to couples who have been together for less than three quarters of a century.

“I think you have to work at it. You have to give, and you have to take,” she said.

“I thank the Lord every morning when I get up, able to get out of bed, get our feet on the floor and be in our own home. That is a blessing,” Ezra added.
