Coronavirus Cases Continue Decline In Ohio

While new cases of COVID-19 are dropping, deaths and hospitalizations related to the virus are holding steady.

OHIO — For four straight days, the state health department has confirmed fewer than 4,000 new cases among Ohioans.

Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged more than 5,000 new COVID-19 cases. The state's average has declined steadily over the past 21 days as fewer new cases of the virus are discovered among Ohioans.

While new cases of COVID-19 are declining in Ohio, hospitalizations and deaths related to the virus are holding steady.

  • New cases: 3,991.
  • New deaths: 94.
  • New hospitalizations: 214.
  • New ICU admissions: 36.

The Ohio Department of Health estimated that 799,819 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered.

More than 7.5 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. As of Wednesday afternoon, 908,096 Ohioans had received at least the first shot and 217,058 Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
