Coronavirus Numbers Continue Drop In Ohio

Officials confirmed fewer than 5,000 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio continues to see declining numbers of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

The Ohio Department of Health said 4,334 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among Ohioans in the past 24 hours. That's down versus the state's three-week rolling average of 6,725 cases per day. Ohio has not confirmed 10,000 or more cases in a day since Jan. 7.

Hospitalizations related to the virus have also dropped in the past week. In the past 24 hours, there were 198 Ohioans admitted to hospitals for COVID-19 care. That's down versus the state's average of 279 COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day.

Deaths related to the virus climbed up slightly after dropping for four straight days. Intensive care admissions held steady with their average. Here are all of Monday's COVID-19 numbers:

The Ohio Department of Health estimates that 731,088 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered. At least 607,893 Ohioans have started the COVID-19 vaccine.
