Former Ohio State Quarterback Haskins Released By Washington
Haskins, who was recently fined for appearing at a party without a mask, appeared in 16 games in two NFL seasons and was benched on Sunday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins was waived by the Washington Football Team on Monday a day after he struggled on Sunday in what proved to be the final chapter of a forgettable NFL season.
Haskins, who was recently stripped of his captaincy by coach Ron Rivera after the former Buckeyes star was photographed without a mask at a party, was benched in Washington’s 20-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Haskins finished the game with a passer rating of 36.9 in a game in which he threw two interceptions, lost a fumble and finished the game with 154 passing yards before he was removed from the game in favor of Taylor Heinicke.
On Monday, Rivera said he met with Haskins and informed him the team was releasing him.

“I told him I believed it benefits both parties that we go our separate ways,” Rivera said in the statement issued by the team. “We want to thank Dwayne for his contributions these last two seasons and wish him well moving forward.”

Haskins apologized on Twitter after being photographed at the party, where he was seen without a mask, which is a violation of the NFL’s coronavirus protocols. He was also fined $40,000 by the Washington Football Team and Haskins called his actions “irresponsible and immature” and said in the social media post that he accepts responsibility for his actions.

After Sunday’s loss, Rivera told reporters he wanted to see improvement from Haskins this week but did not provide more explanation. On Monday, the team announced it had waived Haskins, who finished the season with 1,439 passing yards, five touchdown passes and seven interceptions to go along with five fumbles (three fumbles loss) in seven games.
“You get a chance, and you got to make the most of it, and I’m just grateful to even have that chance,” Haskins said last week in a virtual news conference he asked the team to set up with local reporters, according to the Washington Post.
