KSU Community Mourns Unexpected Loss Of Senior Devin Moore

The Kent State community mourns the loss of Broadcast Student Devin Moore, who died Dec. 6 after collapsing during a basketball game.

KENT, OH -- Kent State University student Devin Moore died Wednesday, Dec. 6 unexpectedly. According to Fox8's report, Devin collapsed while playing basketball at the campus recreation center, and shortly after, university officials announced his death. A gospel choir concert was held on campus Thursday Dec. 7 to honor Devin and to provide a chance for the community to gather and support each other.

The university released a statement on Thursday that reads: "The Kent State University family mourns the tragic loss of one of our students, senior Devin Moore." The statement went on to say that Devin was from Cleveland, Ohio, and that he was studying journalism in the College of Communication and Information. Devin was also a graduate of Beachwood High School and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., which named him a 2017 4th District Omega Psi Phi Man of the Year. The University's statement read:"Our thoughts and prayers are with Devin Moore’s family, friends and Kent State students as they grieve his tragic passing."

Kent State officials are providing support for members of the university community who are grieving Devin's loss. Anyone struggling with the tragedy can contact Psychological Services, University Health Services at 330-672-2487. Other assistance is available from Dean of Students, Dr. Lamar Hylton, at 223 Kent Student Center.

Additional opportunities for students to receive support were offered during drop-in hours Thursday before the gospel concert.
