Moderna, Pfizer Sending Extra COVID-19 Vaccines To Ohio

After winter weather delayed some COVID-19 vaccine shipments, the companies are now sending additional doses to Ohio.

COLUMBUS, OH — Additional shipments of Moderna's and Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Ohio in the coming days.

Both companies' COVID-19 vaccine shipments were delayed last week due to winter weather, Gov. Mike DeWine said Monday. To fulfill their promised deliveries, the companies are now shipping extra doses to Ohio.

"Some providers used second doses that they had received already so they didn’t have to cancel clinics that they had scheduled. Those second doses will be backfilled with the shipments they receive this week," DeWine said Monday.

Providers who canceled appointments last week should expand their vaccination schedule to include weekends and evenings to make up the lost time, the governor said.
