New Coronavirus Cases Dip In Ohio

The Buckeye State has seen a steady decline in new COVID-19 cases.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio's rate for new COVID-19 cases continued it steady decline on Monday, even as hospitalizations and ICU admissions held steady.

In the past 24 hours, health officials confirmed 5,942 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans. That's down versus the state's rolling average of 7,468 cases (an average that would be even lower if not for the New Year's holiday, when health officials combined Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 numbers).

Ignoring the combined New Year's and Christmas numbers, Ohio hasn't confirmed 10,000 or more COVID-19 cases in a day since Dec. 17. There is a risk for another spike in new COVID-19 cases following the New Year's Day holiday, though those cases may not appear for another three to five days.
