Ohio Breaks COVID-19 Cases Record For 3rd Straight Day

COLUMBUS, OH — For the third straight day, Ohio has broken its own record for most COVID-19 cases confirmed in one day.

Over the past 24 hours, health officials have confirmed more than 2,500 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans. That breaks Thursday's record of 2,425 cases confirmed in one day.

Gov. Mike DeWine has spent the past two weeks urging Ohioans to don masks and follow social distancing protocols. The governor believes Ohioans are simply "tired" of living with barriers because of the virus.

Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged more than 1,700 new COVID-19 cases per day. Hospitalizations related to the virus have also been surging, with more than 180 Ohioans entering hospitals Friday for COVID-19 treatment.

Over the past three weeks, more than 100 Ohioans per day have entered hospitals looking for COVID-19 care.

• New hospitalizations: 184
