Ohio Coronavirus Cases, Hospitalizations Continue Decline

Fewer than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed among Ohioans on Wednesday.

COLUMBUS, OH — COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to decline in Ohio, according to data released Wednesday by the state health department.

The Buckeye State had been averaging 3,182 new COVID-19 cases per day. In the past 24 hours, 1,816 new cases of the virus were confirmed among Ohioans. Ohio has not confirmed 3,000 or more COVID-19 cases in a day since Feb. 12.

COVID-19 hospitalizations are also declining in Ohio. Gov. Mike DeWine said he would to see his state have fewer than 2,500 COVID-19 patients in hospitals. As of Tuesday, approximately 1,500 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19.

  • New cases: 1,816.
  • New deaths: 60.
  • New hospitalizations: 149.
  • New ICU admissions: 25.

At least 872,282 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered, the Ohio Department of Health said.

Nearly 11.5 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 1.33 million Ohioans had received at least the first shot and 513,004 Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
