Ohio Surpasses 800,000 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began more than 800,000 cases of the virus have been confirmed among Ohioans.
COLUMBUS, OH — More than 800,000 Ohioans have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
On Thursday, health officials confirmed 7,654 new cases of COVID-19 among Ohioans. The new cases pushed Ohio pass the 800,000 cases threshold. Since the pandemic began in 2020, there have now been 807,293 cases of COVID-19 among Ohioans.
Ohio is now averaging 7,316 new cases of COVID-19 per day, according to the state health department.

Nearly all of Ohio's key COVID-19 metrics (cases, deaths, hospitalizations) jumped Thursday after dipping Wednesday. More than 100 new COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in the past 24 and 340 Ohioans were admitted to hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the same time frame.

Here are all of Thursday's COVID-19 numbers:
- New cases: 7,654
- New deaths: 109
- New hospitalizations: 340
- New ICU admissions: 37
The Ohio Department of Health estimates that 663,856 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered.
