Ohio's Statewide Curfew Reduced By 1 Hour

Gov. Mike DeWine said declining COVID-19 hospitalization rates prompted the loosening of the curfew.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio's statewide curfew has been reduced by one hour.

The curfew will now be in effect from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. The revised curfew will be in effect through at least Feb. 11.

Gov. Mike DeWine said declining COVID-19 hospitalization rates prompted the loosening of the curfew. Ohio has had fewer than 3,500 COVID-19 patients in hospitals for seven straight days.

If there were fewer than 3,000 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, for one week, the curfew would be moved to midnight. If there are seven straight days with fewer than 2,500 COVID-19 patients in Ohio hospitals, the curfew will be lifted entirely.

As before, the curfew will not apply to a bevy of Ohioans, including:

  • Those going to and from work
  • Those having an emergency
  • Those in need of medical care
  • Those getting groceries or going to the pharmacy
  • Those picking-up or delivering food

While food delivery is permitted under the curfew, restaurants and bars cannot service food and drink within an establishment after 10 p.m.

"We must keep practicing safety protocols. Our case numbers are improving because of what you are doing — and what you're not doing. More people are wearing masks. Please continue wearing masks," the governor said this week.
