1,900 People Vaccinated At Lorain County COVID-19 Clinics
On Saturday, Lorain County Public Health vaccinated more than 1,900 people against COVID-19.
LORAIN, OH — More than 1,900 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 during clinics held in Lorain County on Saturday.
Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) held one walk-in and two drive-thru clinics on Saturday. The clinics were open to people 80 and older, per Ohio Department of Health guidelines. LCPH officials said 1,915 people were vaccinated during the clinics.
“We love to see this positive outpouring of interest in the vaccine from older adults in our community,” says LCPH Health Commissioner Dave Covell. “They’re truly modeling the way for the rest of us going forward. This is the generation that knows how important vaccines are, since some of them may have lost friends to diseases like polio and measles before there was a vaccine.”

LCPH officials said all three clinics ran smoothly. However, cars at one drive-thru location were provided a list of alternate sites due to a long line of traffic.
“The entire country is facing this limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine right now,” Covell said. “We’re looking forward to the next couple of months when supply will catch up with demand, and everyone who wants a vaccine can get one.”

LCPH plans to schedule additional vaccination clinics once they receive more vaccines. There are other providers of the vaccine in Lorain County and around Ohio. All providers have to follow Ohio's phased approach to vaccine distribution.
As of Sunday, 607,893 Ohioans (5.2 percent of the state) have at least started the COVID-19 vaccination process.
