Avon, Avon Lake Schools Closed Tuesday Due To Winter Weather
Heavy snowfall forced both districts to close.
AVON, OH — The Avon Schools and Avon Lake Schools are closed Tuesday due to winter weather.
Both in-person and online classes are canceled for both school districts. A winter storm warning is in effect in Lorain County through at least 1 p.m. Tuesday.
A Level 2 travel advisory has also been issued in Lorain County, meaning residents should only travel if absolutely necessary.

Between 8 and 12 inches of snow fell between Monday night and Tuesday morning in northern Ohio, the National Weather Service warned. Winds of up to 20 mph will sweep through the region, making travel particularly hazardous.
"Travel will become very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute on Tuesday," the National Weather Service said.

Winds could hit 30 mph. Wind chills will make it feel nearly 0 degrees outside, forecasters said.
"If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency," the National Weather Service said.
