Avon Girls Soccer Makes State Rankings Debut
The Eagles find themselves in the top 10 teams in the state for the first time in 2017.

AVON, OH — For the first time in 2017, the Avon Lady Eagles soccer team has made its debut in the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (OSSCA) state rankings. The team has racked up a 6-0-2 record on the way to being ranked as the 10th best team in Ohio.
The top of the division has been dominated by three or four teams since the first OSSCA poll was released on Sept. 4. Medina has held the top spot for three straight weeks and Strongsville has been ranked at third for the same stretch. Loveland recently took over the two spot from Walsh Jesuit, who fell to fourth.
The Avon Eagles will return to action Wednesday against Lakewood High School. That will be a road game, hosted at First Federal Lakewood Stadium at 7 p.m. The team will play at home on Saturday against Shaker Heights.
