AVON, OH — July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Avon and Avon Lake so you can start planning now.

What: Fourth of July Jubilee in Avon Lake

When: July 4th from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Weiss Fields, 334-1 Webber Road

Details: A daylong Independence Day celebration will be held in Avon Lake. The festivities will start with dog yoga at noon, then a dog parade and pageant at 1 p.m. (with food trucks). At 3 p.m., the party really gets started with activities for kids and adults, live music and more. Fireworks will be held at dusk, which should be about 10 p.m.
Traffic: City officials are warning attendees to expect slow-moving traffic and limited parking. There will also be a lot of pedestrians, so drivers will need to be extremely cautious when motoring through the fireworks area.
Attendees will not be able to park on Moore Road, Webber Road, or Walker Road during the event. There will be limited parking at Weiss Field. When the lots at Weiss are filled, Moore Road will be closed at Walker to all southbound traffic.
After the fireworks, traffic leaving Weiss Field will have to turn east toward Avon Belden. When pedestrian traffic slows, Moore Road will be northbound will be reopened to vehicles.
Police officers will be scene and motorists should listen to all of their commands.
Avon will be holding its annual Great Avon Bike Parade at 11 a.m. on July 4. The parade will feature decorated bicycles, scooters, wagons and tricycles. Riders are encouraged to use a patriotic theme to celebrate July 4th. Police and fire vehicles will escort the parade throughout the city.
