Avon Lake Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus
The Lorain County Health Department determined that there had been no exposure to other city workers or the public.
AVON LAKE, OH — An Avon Lake police has officer has tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to Mayor Greg Zilka.
The officer is expected to make a full recovery. Zilka said he is self-isolating at home and is being monitored by the Lorain County Health Department.
In all, there are five cases of the new coronavirus in Avon Lake and all cases are being monitored by the county health department. Zilka said none of the patients in Avon Lake have required hospitalization.

Zilka said the officer had limited contact with other police officers prior to getting a diagnosis. He also had limited contact with the outside world and was not in a patrol car but was working an office desk job.
Zilka said the police and fire departments were sanitized.

The county health department made the assessment that there was no exposure to other city workers or the public, according to Zilka.
