Avon Middle School Students Collect Winter Clothing For Families
Students and staff collected winter clothing for the Blessing House.
AVON, OH — The Avon Middle School SADD Club and Builders Club held a clothes collection for winter clothing.
In the Avon Middle Schools Commons, two holiday trees (one for items for boys, one for items for girls) were set up. Students placed gloves, mittens, scares, hats, coats, sweaters and blankets beneath the trees. Parents of students learning remotely had items delivered to the schools. Staff hung some of the items on the trees.
Approximately 250 donations were received this year, a number that astounded Avon Middle School Principal Craig Koehler.

"The compassion of people seems to be more awakened, I would say, because of what's going on in our country. People are much more eager to help others. We always have a good response, but this particular one seems special," Koehler said.
Koehler added that Blessing House became the recipient of choice for donations because of their hands-on, direct work with families.
