Avon Ranked 2nd In First State Football Poll

The undefeated Eagles trail only Cincinnati La Salle in the Associated Press' first ranking of the season.

AVON, OH — After spending most of last season atop OHSAA's Division II high school football rankings, the Avon Eagles again find themselves near the top of the list. The Associated Press released its first state rankings of the season and undefeated Avon is sitting at the two spot, behind only Cincinnati La Salle.

The Eagles have decimated two of the three teams they've face this season. They beat Merritt Island by only four points, winning 20-16, in the opening salvo. From there, it was off to the races.

The Eagles crushed Olmsted Falls on Sept. 1, winning 31-6. Then Avon decided to duplicate its work from the previous week, blowing out Avon Lake by the same score, 31-6.
