Bicentennial Garden Celebration To Be Held Sunday In Avon Lake

Officials will commemorate the opening of a pocket garden and bury a time capsule for future generations.

AVON LAKE, OH — A dedication ceremony this weekend will celebrate the opening of a pocket garden behind the Peter Miller House Museum.

To celebrate the Avon Lake Bicentennial, the Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club, Avon Lake Historical Society and city of Avon Lake worked together to design and build the garden on Miller Road Park.

The garden took more than a year to move from concept to in-the-ground reality. The pocket garden includes native plants, a wheelchair accessible path, and dedication plaques on granite boulders. The boulders were sourced from around the region, the city said in a statement.
