City of Avon Lake Seeks Nominees for Citizen of the Year; Deadline to Nominate is March 17
Exceptional citizens and community service projects sought for recognition for 2016 award

The Avon Lake Community Council is seeking nominations for the 2016 Citizen of the Year and Project of the Year awards, which will be presented in May. The awards highlight the city’s most notable volunteers and the causes that drive them.
The Council plans to choose the winners during their monthly meeting in April. The Council recognizes hard work, commitment, creativity, and compassion while evaluating nominees and choosing winners for the awards.
Past winning nominations for the award have included an Eagle Scout who designed a trail path in the city, a community garden, and an exercise trail.

“What we need to know about the nominees is if they provide significant community service,” city council president Marty O’Donnell told Cleveland.com. He added that a deep respect from the organizations in which they belong is also critical to being chosen.
The awards ceremony is held each spring at a dinner in which nominees are invited to bring their friends and family. Winners are awarded with a plaque that will be hung in the Avon Lake City Hall.
