Damaging Winds To Blow Into Lorain County

Storms and powerful gusts could knock out power and bring down tree branches on Monday morning, the National Weather Service said.

AVON LAKE, OH — A high wind warning has been issued for Lorain County for Monday morning, the National Weather Service announced. Power outages are possible as gusts could hit 35 mph.

"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," the National Weather Service said in its warning.

High winds are expected between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday. The most powerful wind gusts could hit in the early afternoon, the agency said.

Rain and possible thunderstorms could sweep into the region in the early afternoon. During storms, wind gusts could hit 55 mph.

There could also be flooding along the shores of Lake Erie. Erosion is possible on westward facing beaches, the National Weather Service said.

On top of the damaging winds and powerful rain, temperatures are likely to drop nearly 30 degrees between Monday morning and Monday evening. The high for Monday is in the low 60s, while the low is in the low 30s.
