Damaging Winds Could Hit Lorain County Thursday, Friday

AVON LAKE, OH — Damaging winds could blow into Lorain County on late Thursday and early Friday.

A high wind watch for northern Ohio was issued by the National Weather Service. Gusts of up to 60 mph are possible starting Thursday night. The winds could continue to do damage through Friday morning.

"Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," the National Weather Service said. Patch will track power outages as they're reported.

Any loose objects should be secured or stored prior to Thursday evening.

Thursday night is also likely to bring rain to Lorain County. Current forecasts project a 90 percent chance of precipitation throughout the evening and into Friday morning. Nearly an inch of rain could fall throughout the night.

Showers should dry up by 8 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service said. There's a slim chance of rain throughout the weekend.
