Dangerous COVID-19 Home Remedy Being Sold In Lorain County
Lorain County Public Health said a liquid-based home remedy for COVID-19 actually contains bleach.

LORAIN COUNTY, OH — A dangerous "home remedy" for COVID-19 has been circulating throughout Lorain County, according to health officials.
“Products and home remedy mixtures that claim to cure or prevent COVID-19 are dangerous and a waste of money,” said Dave Covell, health commissioner at Lorain County Public Health.
The liquid-based product has been circulating in many immigrant and Latino communities, the health department said. Medical officials tested the liquid and found it contained dangerous chemicals, including chlorine bleach disinfectant. It is never safe to consume bleach or unidentified chemicals, the health department warned.

“We want all people to get vaccinated,” Covell said. “We do not want immigration status to prevent people from getting the COVID-19 vaccine.”
To avoid COVID-19 product scams, follow these tips from Lorain County Public Health and the FDA:
- Be suspicious of products that claim to treat a wide range of diseases.
- Personal testimonials are no substitute for scientific evidence.
- Few diseases or conditions can be treated quickly, so be suspicious of any therapy claimed as a “quick fix.”
- If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
- “Miracle cures” that claim scientific breakthroughs or contain secret ingredients, are likely a hoax.
