EarthWise Pet Celebrates Grand Opening In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — Earthwise Pet celebrated its grand opening in Avon Lake on Saturday.

The business had a soft-opening in March, but held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new location in Learwood Square at 375 Lear Road.

Earthwise Pet opened its first pet supply store in 1977 in California. The company focused on selling all-natural pet food, eco-friendly toys and supplies, grooming services and improving the bond between pets and their people. The Learwood Square location is owned by Felipe and Sharon Covarrubia, both Avon Lake residents.

“We realized that there was an opportunity to serve the community with a store that did not exist in Avon Lake and also help satisfy our love of pets,” Sharon Covarrubia said.

When new customers visit the store, they will be given a tour by a pet nutritionist. Recommendations will be made based on a customer's needs.

“Customers also really appreciate the knowledge and advice that our nutritionists can
provide,” Sharon said. “They like that the store is unique and offers many products that you will not find in a big box store.”

There will also be pet grooming and self-wash stations available at the store.

“The self-wash facilities have been a big hit. Our lead groomer, who has 17 years of experience, is helping us gain the community’s confidence. Our plan is to provide customers with an experience that is remarkable. An experience like no other. Our #1 staff mandate is to provide customers with the information they need to keep their four-legged friends tails wagging for as long as they can. In the future, we plan to offer classes on Pet Nutrition, Nail Cutting, Dog Language, Basic Training, CPR and more."
