Elyria Softball Returns To State Tournament
The team is seeking its third state championship. First, it must dispatch a potent Gahanna Lincoln High School team.

AKRON, OH — The Elyria High School Pioneers are back in the state softball tournament, looking to add to their trophy case. The team will play in the state semi-final on Thursday against Gahanna Lincoln. The game will be played at Akron's Firestone Stadium.
Gahanna Lincoln is a budding softball powerhouse. The team is ranked second in the state and compiled a 25-5 record throughout the season. Gahanna Lincoln has been to the state final four five times and finished as runner-ups in 2011.
Elyria, of course, is an established powerhouse. The Pioneers have made 12 trips to the final four and won two state championships in that span. This year's team, coached by Ken Fenik, put together a 20-4 season.
