High Wind Warning Issued For Lorain County

Wind gusts could exceed 40 mph on Thursday, making Halloween more trick than treat.

AVON, OH — A high wind warning has been issued for much of Northeast Ohio on Thursday, including Lorain County. Wind gusts could exceed 40 mph, making conditions more dangerous for Halloween trick-or-treaters.

"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," the National Weather Service warned on Thursday morning.

The service said Ohioans should avoid traveling through forested areas because of falling branches. Residents are also being told to limit their time outside and to remain, as much as possible, in windowless rooms.
