Highest Occurrence Of COVID-19: Lorain County In Ohio's Top 20
Lorain County is again one of Ohio's hardest-hit counties for COVID-19 transmission.
AVON, OH — Lorain County has one of Ohio's highest rates of COVID-19 transmission locally, the Ohio Department of Health announced this week.
Lorain County ranks No. 15 out of Ohio's 88 counties for highest rate of COVID transmission. Between Feb. 1 and Feb. 14, there were 1,073 cases of COVID-19 confirmed among Lorain County residents.
That's a rate of 346.3 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents.

By comparison, neighboring Cuyahoga County has a rate of 263.4 cases per 100,000 residents and Erie County has a rate of 192.6 cases per 100,000 residents. Huron County has a rate of 187.1 cases per 100,000 residents.
Like much of Ohio, Lorain County is classified as "red" for its COVID-19 spread and is considered to have a "high occurrence" of the virus locally. Only four Ohio counties are not classified as "red" and all counties have a "high occurrence" of the virus, according to the state health department.

The COVID-19 vaccine is now available to Ohioans 65 and older. A list of vaccine providers in Lorain County has been shared online.
