Lorain Public Health Working With Hospitals On Vaccine Rollout
Lorain County Public Health is running mass clinics to vaccinate vulnerable members of the public.
ELYRIA, OH — Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) is working with Mercy Health - Lorain and UH Elyria Medical Center to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
“It makes sense to work together with hospitals on this massive endeavor to get Lorain County vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Dave Covell, health commissioner at LCPH. “We share the same goal. To create a healthy place for all to live, work, and play here in Lorain County.”
When the hospitals receive COVID-19 vaccines designated for the public, they allocate the vaccines to LCPH for distribution at mass clinics. Residents can sign-up for upcoming clinics through the LCPH website.

Due to the limited supply of vaccines, Ohio is using a phased approach to vaccinate the most-vulnerable residents first. The state is currently vaccinating Ohioans who are 65 or older, or have severe, chronic illnesses.
“Pooling our resources for the greater good will help mitigate the devastating effects of this virus in our community," said Kristi Sink, president of UH Medical Center.

Since the vaccine rollout will move slowly, LCPH officials recommend residents continue to limit their trips out of their home, wash their hands frequently, and wear a mask.
