Nearly 1,800 Avon Lake Residents Without Power

Powerful thunderstorms left a lot of Avon Lake residents in the dark on Thursday morning.

AVON LAKE, OH — Nearly 1,800 Avon Lake residents are without power after powerful thunderstorms swept through northern Ohio on Wednesday night.

There are multiple reported outages around Walker Road and Moore Road, based on a map provided by FirstEnergy company. There are scattered outages along Jaycox Road and closed to the lakeshore.

FirstEnergy company is currently predicting power will be restored to all Avon Lake customers by 1 p.m. on Friday. More than 30,000 northern Ohioans are without power on Thursday morning following the storms.

Lorain and Elyria have also suffered widespread power outages, though no community in Lorain County was hit as hard as Avon Lake, according to FirstEnergy's power outages map.

Thunderstorms with damaging winds tore through northern Ohio on Wednesday night. The Sandusky State Theater had its roof torn off during the storms and communities stretching to the east of northern Ohio have lost power or suffered damages due to the storm.
