New Breakwall Bar is ‘For Everyone’
Oct. 25 Halloween party will offer cash prizes for best costume.
Serena Zinsmeister, the owner of Avon Lake’s newest bar, The Breakwall, said the establishment she opened with her husband Joe, an Avon Lake native, could be described as a “working man’s bar.”
“We didn’t really want a sports bar, we wanted kind of a bar for everyone,” Zinsmeister said of The Breakwall, which opened on Aug. 23.
Still, expect the place to be packed when "big games" are being shown on one of the bar's large TV screens.

“It took us months to come up with a name,” Zinsmeister said of the lake-themed moniker. “Finally, my father said ‘The Breakwall.”
Located at 153 Lear Road, in the space formerly occupied by Stop 45, the setup for The Breakwall is largely the same, but with an expanded menu.

“We specialize in hamburgers and pizza,” Zinsmeister said.
The large hamburgers and New York-style pizza is complemented by sandwiches, including Philly Steak, grilled chicken, pulled pork and tacos and hot dogs.
Also on the menu are wings, salads and appetizers, including onion rings, French fries and mozzarella sticks.
“They are our home made recipes,” Zinsmeister said of many of the items.
The Breakwall will be hosting a Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 25 that will include a costume contest with cash prizes, Halloween shots, drink specials, a DJ and karaoke.
The Breakwall is open Mon – Sat 11 a.m. – 1 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to midnight.
