Peaceful Protest To Be Held In Avon This Weekend
A peaceful protest will be held in Avon on Saturday, the police department announced.

AVON, OH — A peaceful protest will be held in Avon on Saturday, June 6. The protest is meant to bring attention to the problems of racism and inequalities in the criminal justice system.
The protest, called "The Change We Seek," is being organized by current and former Avon High students. The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the corner of State Route 83 and Detroit Road.
"The Mayor's office along with the Avon Police Department stand with individuals who wish to peacefully protest against those who use unnecessary force against any citizen," Avon officials said in an open letter to the community.

Officials then said they also support the community's businesses and would not condone violence of any kind.
"The Change We Seek and the Avon Police Department share the same goal for Saturday and want it to serve as a catalyst for our community to promote diversity and equality of all of our citizens," the open letter concluded.
