Ribbon Cutting Canceled At New Avon Lake Counseling Service
City officials said they are working on rescheduling the event, but My Happy Place Therapy & Wellness Center is now open to the public.
AVON LAKE, OH — A ribbon cutting at My Happy Place — a youth counseling service open in Avon Lake — has been canceled, city officials announced.
Avon Lake Economic Development Director Ted Esborn said he is working to reschedule the event. However, the ribbon cutting was canceled because of the spike in COVID-19 cases in locally and statewide.
Two weeks ago, there were 23 cases confirmed over seven days in Avon Lake. Last week, there were 46 new cases in Avon Lake. Lorain County had 533 new COVID-19 cases last week. The trends locally mirror Ohio's statewide surge in new coronavirus cases.

While the ribbon cutting is canceled, My Happy Place Therapy and Wellness Center is now open to the public. The service offers counseling to young adults, adolescents and children. The facility will accept most insurance plans. The business is located at 156 Lear Road, next to Good Neighbor Thrift Shop.
"I created My Happy Place to help spread the word that being happy is something everyone deserves and therapy is such an important piece to that," said owner Lindsay Stein, a licensed professional clinical counselor.
