Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Lorain County

Damaging storms could sweep into the area on Friday night.

AVON, OH — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Lorain County.

Much of northwestern Ohio has been placed under a thunderstorm watch. The watch will remain in place until 9 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service said.

"Thunderstorms will form along a cold front Friday afternoon into Friday evening. Some thunderstorms may approach severe limits with the primary threats being damaging winds and small hail," the agency said.

Temperatures are expected to drop nearly 40 degrees between Friday evening and Saturday night. Friday's high was in the mid-70s, while Saturday's low will be in the mid-30s.

Unsurprisingly, the massive temperature swing is producing precipitation and storms across much of Ohio, though the northwestern portion of the state may get hit hardest.
