Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Lorain County
The storm could produce hail, damaging winds and hard rain.
AVON LAKE, OH — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Lorain County.
The severe thunderstorm watch will be in effect until at least 1 a.m., the National Weather Service said. Much of northwestern Ohio is under the watch.
"A strong thunderstorm could produce dangerous hail, high wind or cause significant damage," Lorain County officials said in an emailed statement warning of the possible thunderstorm.

In addition to the thunderstorm watch, a beach hazards statement has also been issued for the region.
"Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake," the National Weather Service said in a warning.

There is a high risk of rip currents developing in Lake Erie.
There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms continuing through Sunday and into Monday, though inclement weather should abate by 3 p.m. or slightly later in the afternoon, according to current forecasts.
