Teens In Custody After Fire At Vacant Elyria Building

Flames tore through the "Uncle Vic" building in Elyria overnight.

ELYRIA, OH — A fire broke out at a vacant building in Elyria overnight, police announced.

Two teens, both 17-years-old, are now in custody in connection to the blaze, WKYC reported. One of the teens faces charges for arson and failure to report a crime and breaking and entering; the other faces charges for breaking and entering, police said. Both teens are being held at the Lorain County Detention Center pending a future hearing in juvenile court.

The vacant building — sometimes called Uncle Vic's — is on Kerstetter Way. The fire started Wednesday night and burned until Thursday morning. Firefighters battled flames for hours.

The Uncle Vic building previously housed nightclubs and is named for a popular DJ.
